What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Normally, I enjoy a typical Chinese breakfast like soy milk, steamed buns, or dumplings. However, on busy weekdays, I just grab whatever is available on the table—sometimes just a piece of bread. I don’t eat much in the morning because I often lack the appetite and don’t have enough time, even though I know breakfast is important. On weekends, I usually invite my friends to a teahouse to enjoy some dim sum.
Do you think breakfast is important?
Yes, I believe breakfast is important. A nutritious breakfast provides people with the energy needed to focus on their studies or work. For example, students have a full schedule with morning classes, so breakfast helps them stay energized. It’s also crucial for people doing physical labor. In China, we pay a lot of attention to breakfast, and there are many restaurants offering breakfast sets that include milk, eggs, and other nutritious foods for a balanced diet. Even though I don’t always have the appetite for breakfast, I try to eat something to feel more energetic.
Are there any differences between the mornings of your childhood and now?
It’s very different. When I was in middle school or younger, I used to wake up around 6 or 6:30, have breakfast by 7, and rush to school by 7:30. My day started with my first class at 8 or 8:30. Now, as a university student, I have complete control over my lifestyle. I usually wake up late because I stay up all night playing games or browsing on my phone. As a result, I often skip breakfast and lose track of my mornings.
Would you like to change your morning routine?
Actually, I’ve already made some changes to live a healthier lifestyle. Nowadays, I wake up in the morning, prepare breakfast for myself, and then ride my bicycle to work. I’ve gotten used to this routine, and it feels like a healthier way of living. I think I’ll stick to it moving forward.
